FAQs
When should I have my trees trimmed?
While the ideal time of year varies from tree to tree, some trimming can be done almost all year round in Arizona. We take care to avoid stressing the tree, so we’ll avoid removing too much during the hottest parts of the summer. Similarly, when it is cold, we have to account for frost sensitive species.
Having your trees cared for consistently is more important than doing so on the exact perfect day. More consistent care means smaller cuts, fewer health problems and fewer preventable structural failures. For this reason, many of our customers request a spring trim and a fall clean-up to identify any issues before and after Monsoon season.
Do you offer lawn care services?
Not weekly maintenance, but we can certainly help with installation work and projects that are incidental to the tree work we perform! While we are focused on growing the best tree teams in the industry, we don’t currently have a landscape maintenance team. To give our teams time to focus on being great at one thing at a time, we are not currently taking on weekly landscape maintenance customers.
That said, if you aren’t sure if we can help with your project or property - don’t hesitate to call, text or email! Even if we can’t help, we’ll do our best to point you in the right direction.
When is the best time to plant a new tree?
In Phoenix, the best time to plant a tree is generally Spring or Fall. Avoiding the scorching heat of the peak summer and the potential for frost in the winter is best for most species. The exception here, once again, are palm “trees”. Palms are tropical plants (not even technically trees!) and prefer higher soil temperatures. So, these can be planted right through the summer as long as it is done carefully.
What’s the best tree for my yard?
To give you the best answer, we’d recommend booking a free consultation with one of our Good-Natured experts. There’s no one-size-fits-all answer here. When helping you choose, we take into account your goals, our experience, the tree’s mature size, and a whole host of environmental conditions to make our recommendations. Picking the right tree from the start can save you headaches and money down the road.
Do you recycle everything you haul away?
Almost! But, not everything can be. We participate in the City of Phoenix’s Certified Clean Green program. This means that our green waste is diverted from the landfill and instead is used to make compost! The exclusion to this is palm fronds, which don’t break down in compost the same way as other green materials.
Do you offer organic services?
To the best of our ability, yes. We are believers in using natural and reduced risk solutions whenever possible. Through lots of our own experimentation and research, we’ve found several products that are organic and can be very effective! Unfortunately, some pests and pathogens simply cannot be controlled through the organic products available now. Given the choice between losing a valued tree and using a non-organic chemical to control the problem, we’ll often recommend the latter. But, the choice is always yours.
